Halfway through summer

Well, summer is half over and we haven't done a thing. I am still working on my master's. Tomorrow we are going to San Marcos to ride the glass bottom boats and eat at CiCi's pizza.
My mom went home to Illinois, and is having a good time visiting her family.
My sister is doing very well after her surgery. She is enjoying her cat and taking it easy.

Time flies, whether you are having fun or not

Well, it is now the last month or so of school. I have been so busy I have ignored my blog here, and I hate that. I have three classes down for my Master's, and five to go. I have made all A's!

Mr Cheshire Boots is doing well. Getting to be quite a grown up.

March is here

I can not believe it is March already. I am ready for spring break. In addition to teaching 6th grade, I am working on a masters degree in education. it will be nice to have a break from it all for one glorious week.

We have lots of fun plans, glass bottom boat rides, trips to the Riverwalk in San Antonio and just general relaxation.

Here is another picture of Mr. Cheshire Boots, sitting at the table this time. I do not know what he was waiting for. It looks like he was about to run out of patience.

A new year

Well, we are now into the second month of 2009, and I have almost completed one semester of graduate school. I am doing this online, and each semester is squashed down into five weeks, so it is pretty intense.

We are about to take off on another spree of painting as soon as we clean up from the last batch.

On the 12th of this month will be the bicentennial of the birth of Abraham Lincoln, one of the most down to earth, sensible men who ever served as president. Having lived a large portion of my life in the Land of Lincoln, this will be a big event for me. ( so what if I am a nerd!)

Until next time, KellyGirl

Christmas 2008

Well, we celebrated our first Christmas in our new home, and it was wonderful. We enjoyed our newest addition, Mr. Cheshire Boots, and believe me, he kept us hopping.

My daughter and I had spent more than one evening driving through town looking at the lights. There were some really decked out houses.

We had a great dinner with my sister and mother in attendence, as a matter of fact, they brought most of the dinner with them. It was delicious as usual. My sister, among her many talents, is an excellent cook.

I will end this entry, and post some pictures so you can see our Christmas day for yourself.

I wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year.

Can you believe it's December?

I have been so busy these past couple of months I have let this blog suffer. I can not believe the school year is almost half over. We are preparing for our first Christmas in our new home.

My daughter and I went to the Nutcracker Ballet. My sister bought our tickets and paid for a dinner out. It was the loveliest Christmas present ever.

One last week of school until our Christmas vacation. We are looking forward to relaxing with family.

Here you can see Mr. Cheshire Boots under our tree.

I Don't Like Ike

Well, I decided on Wednesday that if we had to leave anyway, we may as well not drag our feet about it. We secured the homestead as best we could and made for my mother's house some 85 miles inland.
We had canned goods, clothes for a couple of days, a very apprehensive cat (Poor Mr. Boots!), and a sad feeling about leaving our home. We drove off, and I prayed the house would still be standing when we returned.
After monitoring the situation from the new "command center" in Prairie Lea- we were very happy that the storm has turned quite northernly, and although Victoria will be hit with wind and rain, we are far from the direct hit we were expecting.
Of course, our good news is someone else's bad news, and I pray for all in the path of this storm.
