My Yard

I worked in my yard tonight. My mother bought several bags of mulch, and we hacked away at a dead bush, (drat those contractors), and used stepping stones to make a little walkway to the faucet, so I don't track mud into the house. Then, we scattered the mulch. We watered the grass, and picked up little twigs.
You may wonder why I even mention such mundane activities. It is because I have never had a yard before.
Oh, sure, I had plenty of yards when I was a kid. But, for the past several years, my daughter and I have lived in apartments, we have had a small square of concrete to frolic in.
If you had told me last year at this time I would be working in my own yard this summer, I wouldn't have believed you. We closed on the house three weeks before my daughter's 15th birthday. I always wanted a house to call our own, and I really wanted to get it before she left home. I wasn't sure for years if it would happen, but the Lord favored us.
I guess the next thing to do is start painting.
Have a great weekend.
